2 Stars KandelKorner’s cable not the pictured cable BBW
The cable was decent but generic, which is the same cable selling for much less here and on Ebay. So 2 stars its good but not as good as the pictured cable. They made too much money, I was willing to pay more for the pictured cable not the one I got which could have been had for half this price shipped.

5 Stars Great Cable
This is a great wii component cable. It is cheaper than the official Nintendo’s cable and works the same. It came in bulk packaging when I ordered it from kandelskorner. It is about 6 feet and is 24K gold plated. The insulation is nylon. It works great and connects easily. It also easily snaps in place on the wii. After connecting, make sure you go to: wii options>>screen>>480p for HDTV or EDTV.

Please note that this does not make it “HD” only ED (enhanced definition)

The original: 480i

This Cable: 480p

1 Star Didn’t work for me
I have a Wii that works fine with the composite (3 plug) adaptor. When I bought a HD TV (Insignia brand), I bought this cable, expecting the 6-plug component hookup to be better. I tried all Wii modes — wide and normal, standard definition 480i and HD 480p. In all modes, the Wii would display OK most of the time, but then go black for a few seconds, and then come back. It would do this repeatedly, every minute or so. I gave up, went back to the composite cable, and it displays fine in 480i wide screen. (In fact, the picture is slightly clearer with the composite cable.) So this cable ain’t worth it, at least for me.

Premium Gold Plated Component AV Cable for Nintendo Wii

Compatible with: Nintendo Wii console system only

5 Stars Very pleased
This cable is cheap, and made a noticeable difference in visuals for my Wii. I’ve compared this with the regular composite cable (the one that comes with the Wii) on a 29″ CRT and 32″ LCD tv and these make the contrast, colors, and edges more defined and vibrant. For the price and visual boost, I don’t think it gets any better. If you’re in the market for Wii component cables, buy this one.

4 Stars worth the price
The cables are not gold-plated as the product description claims, so I dinged them one star. But forget about that, do they make the picture look better than the standard cables? I have a 42″ DLP and there’s definitely a difference. It’s not huge – it won’t turn your Wii into a PS3. But with these cables I can flip between 480i and 480p and there’s a definitely difference in the amount of color bleeding, especially with text. Are they worth it? Hey, they cost under $10 including shipping. If you have a big TV, go for it. Just make sure you go into to your Wii settings and switch to 480p.

4 Stars These seem like pretty decent cables
I’ve replaced my standard AV cables that came with the Wii with these cables and after comparing them I’ve noticed a few things right away. These cables really enhanced the color of the images on the screen and make things seem a lot brighter. But I’m not sure if it’s the cables, the game or my tv but the characters seem a lot more pixelated when the Wii is in HD mode with these cable attached. I’m trying them with Wii sports since I lack any other games at the moment. Even the menu screen seems more pixelated and grainy. Either way, even if this is the way the cables actually display on all TVs and I haven’t missed anything in the setup, I think the trade offs are acceptable. I like the cables and I think I’ll leave them on for now.

5 Stars Good quality, good price.
There is little to no difference between these cables and first (or other third) party cables. The difference in picture quality upon upgrading to a component cable from a standard AV cable is outstanding.

If you have an HDTV and a Wii, buy one. Now.

5 Stars Great Price, Good Performance!
I bought this as a gift for a friend with a Wii and a HDTV. The 480p output that this cable enables (and you have to select this output setting inside the Wii setup screens) looked better than the standard 480i output that the OEM cable enclosed in the box produces. Some cable snobs think that “high-quality” cables will make a lifetime of difference, I prefer to save the money for other things.

As others have pointed out, the Wii does not produce HDMI signals… the best the Wii can do is 480p output over these sorts of component-output cables (an analog, not digital signal). It’s yet another reason that the Wii can retail for less than the other game consoles. That said, the improvement in appearance was well worth the modest cost of these cables.

High Definition AV Component Cable for Nintendo Wii 6FT

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars High Definition is such a relative term….
“High-Def” is a flashy word that gets thrown around a lot these days. It’s becoming easier and easier to move yourself into a world of crisper, more detailed media content….easier AND cheaper. But the “High-Def” of today (1080p) will be the “standard” definition of tomorrow and so on and so forth.

With that said, remember that the Wii “technically” can’t display what we consider today to be hi definition content. It just won’t go past a 480p (that’s progressive) resolution.

I don’t believe this to be a bad thing. I’ve owned the Wii console since midnight of the launch date and believe it to be the best console choice this generation. All I’m asking is that you not be fooled by these “hot” key words, make sure you research what you are purchasing and know what it means when they make the claim to hi-definition. 480p looks brilliant on every Wii game that supports it on my 46″ Sharp Aquos LCD(the D64U if your curious), but it’s still a long way from 1920X1200…

I didn’t purchase this item, however I give this product a low score simply because the title is so misleading, but then again, like I said at the top…Hi-def is a very relative term….

5 Stars High Definition Av Cable very efficient!
The Nintendo wii High Definition component cable is a great value even though the wii can only produce 480p. The cable seems to work great with my plasma tv, and I recommend it for anyone who has a high definition tv because it also frees up the standard video inputs for dvd players, vcrs, etc.

2 Stars Try some better cables
The service was fine. The order arrived when expected. Although the connectors are too fat, I was able to get them plugged in. The picture was great for about a week, but continues to get worse every day. It’s becoming very pixelized especially on games with a dark background. Had to go back to the original cables that came with the Wii. I guess I wasted my money. Do your research and buy some higher quality cables.

4 Stars good cable for price
Minor imperfections in display. I don’t notice it very often. It will open up the possibility for 480p on your Wii. If you have the money you might want to get the official Nintendo one just to make sure there’s no imperfections but for the price this cable works fine.

3 Stars They work but…..
Like another person said they have a lot of material around the jack and it makes it a tad tight if the jacks are close together.

I have a Toshiba 32″ LCD and I don’t know if other TVs are spaced differently or if it is a standard the way they space the jacks apart.

I took a razor blade and cut some material off of two jacks and they fit fine afterwards. For $15 it was not worth going through the process of sending it back.

Besides that they work fine. The picture quality is diffidently better compared to the standard cables.

But if I had a choice to do it all over again I would have just spent the extra money for the licensed ones.

3 Stars 480P wu who
Slight dif in resolution, nothing great. Would only recommend for people need AVI spots for other hardware.

4 Stars crisp and clean
I have a 50 inch plasma and I could immediately tell the difference in how much more crisp the lines are. The colors are brighter too. great for the price.
