5 Stars The Game Is Good!!!
This is a pretty good game if you like a straight up shooter. It is simple and straight forward which is the reason it is so much fun to play. The controls are on point with the aiming and firing and it is the closest thing to the arcade that I have seen on a console – it is also just as fun. It is worth the $30. Even if you are not into shooting games this game is fun with all the horror and cheesy story line. Nintendo got this game right. This game is good to go!!!
4 Stars A must own for the fans…
While there is nothing new in this offering, it is exactly what it is advertised to be. I’ve kept my Sega Dreamcast around for several years just to play House of the Dead 2. Now it may be visiting the trade-in stack. If you loved the originals on the Dreamcast or at the local arcade, this is a “Must Own” title. This disk contains two great games for the price of one. Many hours of on-the-rail shooting await!
4 Stars Blast from the Past…Literally!
House 2 and 3 has eaten so many of my quarters in the past, so I call this My Revenge on the Coin Op! It is a good representation of the older games, and I love the feel of it with my light gun. But when I share the gun, I think it’s pretty solid even with the Wii remote. All in all, for the price it’s at now, 20 bucks, give or take, it is a no brainer. Or perhaps it’s a brain shooter…as that puts em down quickly! Okay, that was pretty corny, but heck, the game has a chessy storyline. But who cares about the story? This game is pure rail shooting at its finest. Once you beat it, get HOTD: Overkill!!!
4 Stars classic
This game is great fun just as you remember it from the arcade version. I debated between buying this and house of the dead overkill, but because of the price of hod:overkill and the reviews regarding the level of unnecessary profanity, in addition to the overly graphic depictions (such as the ending) I opted for hod 2&3 returns. I have not been disappointed by the choice, espcially since I got it on sale for $19.99. Again, the graphics are great on the Wii and the fame plays just as the arcade version, literally. Using the wiimote as the weapon works just fine. Just as in the arcade game, you get excited because you have killed all of the zombies, but then you see that you are out of credits and out of lives, the game ends and then you have to replay the level-but that is half the fun of it all. At least in this version, you don’t have to keep putting in more money to get more plays. The game is fun playing alone, but even better as a multi-player.
3 Stars Slightly disappointing.
As a kid, I remember playing these two games at the local arcade. I was pro at the games. You gotta admit that shooting zombies is fun.
I beat HOD2&3 in accumulated 1.5 hrs: not even a whole afternoon.Buying the game, you made the commitment of playing it over and over again.
I was disappointed. They made no attempt to touch up the graphics or fix glitches. All they did was take HOD2 PC mode and put it on a disc with HOD 3. There are some fun Training mode things that will help you and ultimately get you an upgrade useable in “origional mode” for NOD2.
Conclusion: Buy it and share it with a friend. It will get old after a month or two.
PS: Aim for the head and shoot everything on screen that is not a hostage! you will unlock secret endings if you score high enough. Use 2.0 caliber bullets in HOD2 in Original mode(I have it in Japanese, so i’m not sure what the translation is in the English version. you’ll know what it is when you see it)
