Official Wii Component Video Cable

The Wii Component Cable links your Wii console to your TV, allowing you to view and enjoy your games with the best possible image display. Component video splits the signal into three separate channels of video information for the ultimate connection quality. The cable includes five connectors – three for video, and two for left and right stereo audio.

2 Stars Name brand But not name brand quality
I bought this nintendo brand wii component cable thinking I would get the best quality becouse it was made by nintendo. This thin skinny cable may be called component. But it is a very cheaply made low quality component cable. as mentioned above the cable is thin (not to mention even double insulated) , the RGB part you plug into your TV is not gold plated like all good component cables you see these days(it’s copper). For half the price you could get a generic brand or monster cable that has better quality.

4 Stars Work better than some alternatives, but at a higher price
I decided to purchase the official cable after trying a cheaper $10 cable that, while it worked fine, didn’t provide the best picture quality (that’s what I get for not buying first-party to begin with). This official cable definately had a better picture quality and while the difference wasn’t amazing, it was noticeable and to me, worth the extra price. I have a budget LCD, so the difference betweent the lower- and higher- quality cables might be more noticeable. In short, these work great and I am much happier with the way my Wii looks now on an HDTV. I will not be hooking this up to my speaker system until August, so the length of the audio cables has not yet been a problem for me.

While I’m happy with these cables, I took one star off for the price. I know I’m paying for the Nintendo name and the “official” seal, which I am always happy to do with Nintendo products, but I think $30 is a little steep.

As a side note, the plugs didn’t seem too snug or loose when I plugged them in and they are nicely sized – even if your inputs are crammed close together you won’t have a problem fitting these in there.

5 Stars Crisp, clear image
I wouldn’t use my Wii without this. The image quality in 480p is crisp and clear. If you own a television capable of 480p, you owe it to yourself to pick these up. This product works as it should and I have not had any problems with it yet.

5 Stars Must have for HDTV owners
I have a 37 LCD TV and what a difference!!! With the component cable I get a crisp, vivid image as opposed to blurry and washed out with the standard RCA cable. Do remember that you have to manually switch the resolution of the Wii to 480p, otherwise you won’t notice any difference. You don’t need to get an expensive cable (e.g. no need to get the official cable), any Wii component cable will do.

Highly recommended.

4 Stars What you’d expect
These allow you to bump up the resolution of the Wii a little which is nice. It makes a small difference which I appreciated but it certainly isn’t a must buy.

Nintendo Wii Component AV Cables

It would be a shame to own a Wii and a high definition capable television and not own these cables. Better graphics, better quality, and better sound, these will make any gaming experience more enjoyable! See and experience the Wii with the best quality possible on your HDTV.

1 Star Disappointed
My complaints have nothing to do with the quality of this cable but with the “component” image you receive when turning on progressive scan on the Wii. In my opinion while the image may be a little sharper on my 42 inch 720p capable display it actually looks worse than interlace because of the pixilation you can now see.

5 Stars A Must for large TV’s
For the Nintendo Wii, let’s face it. 480i is not bad, but when the TV’s get larger in size, you can start to detect the fuzziness of the picture. Getting the component cable bumps it up to 480p, effectively doubling the resolution in one dimension (though I don’t remember which one). While not necessary for Wii Sports, though it does make a difference there, it is pretty sweet upgrade for games such as Zelda (which is about all I can speak for as of now). Obviously, while I recommend this for larger TV’s to remove the grain, on smaller TV’s this just makes the picture quality seem crisp and clear.

4 Stars Wii Component Cable review
This component cable works perfectly. The only issue that some users might run into is this: the audio cables are not separated from the video cables–keep this in mind before you buy this brand. Make sure on your HDTV / EDTV that the blue, green and red video cinputs are closeby your red and white audio inputs. I haven’t run into this issue, but others might. Great off-brand product.

5 Stars Great buy for the Wii
I bought these because they are far cheaper then most on the market and the quality of the cables is good. With most component cables all 5 cables are split at the same place so you may need audio extensions to reach to your receiver. You can find the cable and female2female connectors you need on amazon for a cheap price.

These cables to supply a 480p image and the complaints about pixelation are just by those who don’t understand SD and HD resolution and how games are made. These cables work great and the price is a bargain. A good buy.

2 Stars Mine broke!
I got these thinking they were a good deal, despite the reservations I hold about buying third-party hardware. For a while, they worked great and I was happy, but a few months after my purchase, the sound cables and the blue input stopped working correctly, resulting in a reddish-green image and a lot of high-pitched beeping whenever I turned on my system. If you want decent HD cables for your Wii, spring the extra 20 for the ones Nintendo makes (they’ve been working great for me).
