React S Video and Composite Video Cable for Nintendo Wii

Get the audio and video quality you desire from your Nintendo Wii by connecting the console to your TV with a high-quality S-video cable. The S-video cable provides better audio and video transmissions from your Nintendo Wii to your TV than you would get from a composite cable. Why would you hook up your Wii with anything else?

With 8 ft. of high-quality cable, you get a wide range of spaces you could place your Nintendo Wii console. The S-Video Cable for Nintendo Wii transmits color and brightness along different paths, allowing them to be processed separately. 1 Star Didn’t work for me
I have a Wii that works fine with the composite (3 plug) adaptor. When I bought a HD TV (Insignia brand), I bought this cable, expecting the 6-plug component hookup to be better. I tried all Wii modes — wide and normal, standard definition 480i and HD 480p. In all modes, the Wii would display OK most of the time, but then go black for a few seconds, and then come back. It would do this repeatedly, every minute or so. I gave up, went back to the composite cable, and it displays fine in 480i wide screen. (In fact, the picture is slightly clearer with the composite cable.) So this cable ain’t worth it, at least for me.

4 Stars Lower quality cable
These cables are not gold plated, if you prefer the best quality cable i would spend a little more money to get either gold plated or platinum plated cables. There was only a noticible difference with the upgraded cables. I had to modify the seting quit a bit to notice a real difference

Notes: IM using a samsung 26″ LCD

4 Stars Works Great, but Little Reach
This product works just great and it came faster than expected. But, as someone noted eairlier, the cables don’t strech very far, and it is impossible for me to reach my TV and surround receiver at the same time. If you are looking for great picture and are not too worried about surround sound, then this is the perfect thing.

5 Stars Wii component cable review
Best < $20 I've ever spent. EVERY game looks REMARKABLY better on my

HD television.

If you have a Wii and an HD TV, you really should get this cable or something like it.

4 Stars Worth the $15
The better video quality is worth the $15 I paid for it, I’m not sure if it is worth more than $20 but I like it.

5 Stars Fixed my HDTV Lag!
My HDTV had lag when using the normal Wii composite cable, so I bought this cable. The lag is almost completely gone now. The image quality is perfect, so rest assured that these are quality cables.

5 Stars Very pleased
This cable is cheap, and made a noticeable difference in visuals for my Wii. I’ve compared this with the regular composite cable (the one that comes with the Wii) on a 29″ CRT and 32″ LCD tv and these make the contrast, colors, and edges more defined and vibrant. For the price and visual boost, I don’t think it gets any better. If you’re in the market for Wii component cables, buy this one.

4 Stars worth the price
The cables are not gold-plated as the product description claims, so I dinged them one star. But forget about that, do they make the picture look better than the standard cables? I have a 42″ DLP and there’s definitely a difference. It’s not huge – it won’t turn your Wii into a PS3. But with these cables I can flip between 480i and 480p and there’s a definitely difference in the amount of color bleeding, especially with text. Are they worth it? Hey, they cost under $10 including shipping. If you have a big TV, go for it. Just make sure you go into to your Wii settings and switch to 480p.

4 Stars These seem like pretty decent cables
I’ve replaced my standard AV cables that came with the Wii with these cables and after comparing them I’ve noticed a few things right away. These cables really enhanced the color of the images on the screen and make things seem a lot brighter. But I’m not sure if it’s the cables, the game or my tv but the characters seem a lot more pixelated when the Wii is in HD mode with these cable attached. I’m trying them with Wii sports since I lack any other games at the moment. Even the menu screen seems more pixelated and grainy. Either way, even if this is the way the cables actually display on all TVs and I haven’t missed anything in the setup, I think the trade offs are acceptable. I like the cables and I think I’ll leave them on for now.

5 Stars Good quality, good price.
There is little to no difference between these cables and first (or other third) party cables. The difference in picture quality upon upgrading to a component cable from a standard AV cable is outstanding.

If you have an HDTV and a Wii, buy one. Now.

5 Stars Great Price, Good Performance!
I bought this as a gift for a friend with a Wii and a HDTV. The 480p output that this cable enables (and you have to select this output setting inside the Wii setup screens) looked better than the standard 480i output that the OEM cable enclosed in the box produces. Some cable snobs think that “high-quality” cables will make a lifetime of difference, I prefer to save the money for other things.

As others have pointed out, the Wii does not produce HDMI signals… the best the Wii can do is 480p output over these sorts of component-output cables (an analog, not digital signal). It’s yet another reason that the Wii can retail for less than the other game consoles. That said, the improvement in appearance was well worth the modest cost of these cables.

Pro System Selector Silver 2 0

September 28th, 2008 Nintendo Wii Review No comments

Pro System Selector Silver 2 0

The Score System Selector Pro 2.0 is the ultimate control device for your audio, video and video game consoles. It supports the latest in video, audio and broadband technology with 5 rear inputs for AV/S video, component, digital optical and Ethernet as well as a hidden front input that features both AV and S-Video.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Well rounded selector, good value, but a few flaws.
Pros: Simple to setup and use. Programming the labels is about has hard as setting the presets on your car radio. Blends right in with other stereo components. Passes 1080i HD signal to my CRT HDTV without any distortion that I can discern. Display is bright, clear and easy to read. Remote makes switched from game console back to TV or other devices from across the room simple.

Cons: No S-Video cable included. No dedicated audio cable included, so if you use all RCA style video outputs (component and composite) and send your sound via RCA to a receiver you either have to use your own cable or separate the red and white cables from the yellow on the included composite cable. As the other reviewers noted, there is no Wii label and no way to update/customize the labels.

The LAN support isn’t a true hub, but a switch, where port A or B can talk to the network but not both at the same time. You cannot link a LAN port to an input channel, so you have to select both the right A/V channel and LAN port.

5 Stars Awesome!
It’s just what a video gamer can ask for. No more switching back in forth with the A/Vs behind your tv. There all hooked up and ready to go.

4 Stars Very good Switch Box
I’ve read all the good and bad press on this one before I choose to purchase the product. I have found it works very well as long as you use good cables to reduce signal degradation. I have found that Plasma and LCD are more prone to artifacts, while my Mitsubishi projection TV has never had an artifact issue.

Unless you really need to have a remote and control more than three HD systems, consider looking at “Pelican HD System Selector” or the “GameStop Universal System Selector”, between 15 and 20 bucks. I have one of those too and have found it to be just as good a appliance.

5 Stars Keeping It Simple, Stupid
I did a fair amount of research and landed on this product in the hope that it would simplify things for me. In short, it does so and very well thank you. It’s a pretty straightforward install; the only (minor) critique is that it doesn’t have a dedicated “Wii” option but has a “GameCube” one – dates it, but if you’re not bothered, this product is a great bargain at about $50…

5 Stars Great, high quality system selector
I’ve been through 2 system selectors, one of them from some 3rd party and another low-end Pelican. However, I am pleased to say that this is a very good video switch.

I’ve got an Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, and my computer sound card output plugged into this. My 360 is 1080i and my Wii 480p. I have not experienced any issues like I did with the old switches, namely:

* Out of sync issues (where my projector loses the source) or HDTV goes crazy

* Inputs not properly displaying progressive scan

That hasn’t happened. I like the labeling system, but there’s no Wii, just Gamecube. Oh well. The remote works really well and it looks nice with my setup. I like the front panel, that’s really nice.

I was looking around for a good switch and a lot were really expensive but only had about 3-4 component inputs. This has 5 component inputs. The LED display tells you what it’s outputting and what channel you’re on. It was well worth it!
