3 Stars Not what I was expecting
I thought this game could be better. The game is not bad, in fact is quite interesting, but it is not so good for having 4 and half star. I think there are better games out there.

5 Stars Entertaining for single or multiplayer
I got this game because I was looking for one that would be equally fun when playing alone or with guests. This game has fit the bill and then some.

I will admit when I originally picked up this game I was skeptical of how fun it would be. Described as a ‘puzzle/action game’ it looked a bit basic in terms of skill level and complexity. I also worried that it would be something more enteraining for families with young children than twentysomethings. Happily this game proved me wrong and not only have my boyfriend and I gone through almost all the game play available, his mother also loved it so much she got her own copy.

There are many positives about the game. The first is that it is addictively fun. We have played it with many different crowds and have yet to find someone who doesn’t enjoy the game. Most are skeptical at first, but then addicted. It is an especially good game for newbies to the Wii because the game play is very easy to master and intuitive. Because of this less time is spent mastering the remote and more on enjoying the game. It also takes full advantage of the movement and possibilities of the Wii remote so it feels very different than playing a game on another system.

I also appreciated the variety of activities between a single game. Even though they are all different adapations of Jenga like games they are different enough to keep me entertained for hours. Each game felt different enough that even when I had made it through most of the levels the subsequent ones never felt repetitive or boring. There is even an in-game editor so you can build levels on your own, leading to seemingly endless gameplay.

Even though I can usually find some flaw with every video game I’ve purchased this was not the case with this game. If anything, I’m wishing it came with more levels so I could play longer.

Overall this is a great game that I would recommend whether you are into single or multiplayer gameplay. It is a particularly good game if you are new to the Wii system and want something you can master and enjoy quickly. It is easily up there with Mario Kart Wii with Wii Wheel and Super Mario Galaxy.

5 Stars Addictive Party Game
I’m a casual game. 20-30 minutes and I’m ready to do something else. I also like to play with friends as a social activity. This game is perfect for me because it’s essential the board game Jenga but with hundreds of interesting variations. The fun is in competing with your friends and talking trash, but it also takes some intelligence and spacial reasoning abilities.

If you like to play fun games that don’t have a steep learning curve so your friends can easily play, this is great game. Highly recommended.

I had never heard of this game until some friends and I went to rent a few games to play for the weekend. We found Boom Blox and thought it looked ok, so we took it home and played all night. I liked it so much I bought it.

The multiplayer mode is the best. We had tons of fun and played for hours, though, yes, our arms were sore the next day. Single player can be pretty fun, but it does get lonely after a while.

Super Monkey Ball

In Super Monkey Ball, you’re in control of a cute little monkey trapped inside a transparent ball. The objective of the game is deceptively simple: tilt the floor with your analog stick so that your monkey ball rolls towards the goal. Your success is all in the thumb: the more you tilt, the faster the ball rolls. Just be sure not to fall off the edges! You can play with up to four others to see who can master the tilt and get their monkeys to the finish line ahead of the pack.

5 Stars Very fun
Old School, but still fun. Have the Wii and wanted to try this before buying the 50 dollar Wii version. Definitely going to get the new one now!

4 Stars Not as good as the second one
The second game is much better and has better games but this is still a fun party game if you don’t have the second one.

4 Stars Great Golf! Stay away from the “Bowling”
The actual game is fairly good. The multi-player are a mixed bag. The Bowling is just about the worst thing I’ve ever seen. It got my neighbor’s little girl so upset we had to make her promise not to attempt it.

The golf, on the other hand, is amazingly good. As good as Mario!

3 Stars Fun minigames, but infuriating main game is required to unlock them
This game came highly recommended to me and got good reviews, but I have to say that this is one of the most infuriating games I’ve ever played. Yes, 2 of the 3 mini-games that are initially unlocked are fun, but to get the other 3 mini games you have to play the main game, and the main game is infuriatingly not fun. Actually, the first 5 or 6 levels or so are pretty fun, but then it rapidly, and painfully, gets difficult. It’s a lot like Marble Madness, except for the fun part. A key difference between the way Marble Madness worked and the way this works is that in Marble Madness, if you fell off an edge you lost time, but were placed roughly back where you were before you fell off. In Super Monkey Ball, if you fall off you have to start the level entirely over again. Combine that with levels involving balance beam precision and what you end up with just isn’t fun.

I made it through the easy levels, but decided I’d had enough only a short way into the medium difficulty levels. An hour into it and I was only less than halfway to unlocking one mini game. It’s just not worth it. My advice would be to only buy this game if you have an Action Replay to unlock all the mini games right away, or if you have friends/family who have a save with all the mini games unlocked that you can copy to your memory card. The mini games are fun, and SMB should have been entirely mini games.

You kids this is a top 3 game cube game in our household! I love Monkey Fight! I am a super sonic gamer. I like about everything I play! Buy it I know this is the right game for you! I got it this Christmas. Rent it before you buy it to make sure you like it. Post a review if you have it. SEGA rocks with Sonic,& Super Monkey Ball. Buy it Buy it Buy it Buy it Buy it!!!!!

4 Stars GREAT GAME for 7-12 and parents too!
My son age 11 and I love playing this game and it is great for boys that like to destroy and throw things! Who doesn’t love to do that? I love the animals in it and the many different puzzles and the fact that you can change camera angles to pick out your block. I wouldn’t recommend for younger than 7 because I think it would be too difficult to do much besides throw a few blocks, but I am no expert! I love everything about this game!

5 Stars Fun for everyone
This bar-none is the best multi-player game on the Wii. I play it whenever I have a little time to spare. There are so many options and challenges to keep you playing for hours on end. It is also good for all ages. My 5 year old Nephew loves to play this game with me whenever he comes over. I like the challenge and he likes making all of the blox fall over.

great game! my 5 yr-old enjoys beating his father & me often. we like it too because it really involves problem-solving skills & intense thought processes to reach the “gold”. we play it alot & are quite impressed with the variations of the levels & the huge amount of different activities available on it.

4 Stars Very good regardless of some flaws
Boom Blox has a ton of play in it as you work diverse and sometimes very difficult. Most of the puzzles are fun and provide great replay value as you try to attain gold medals at some pretty tricky puzzles. I really like the diverse nature of the puzzles but some of the mindless shoot em up levels can be tedious and frustrating, relying on luck over skill. The timed levels can also be nearly impossible to pass. Regardless , with 400 levels, cooperative and head-to-head play you can find weeks of fun in this one, even if you can’t complete the entire game. If they have a sequel that addresses the shortcomings, I’ll be a buyer. Meanwhile I’ll try to improve on my current 55% completion. Almost great

5 Stars Boom Blox is great for families!
When I first got this game, I was somewhat disappointed because it wasn’t that fun. As I gave it more time, I discovered that there are many more facets of the game that are missed at first glance.

For me, I am particular towards the multiplayer aspects of Boom Blox. That is, I wanted to play this game with my friends/family – and preferred everyone participating together than sitting around taking turns. Thus, although Boom Blox supports a handful of 4 player games, I was disappointed when many of them only worked while taking turns. Furthermore, the shooting games where everyone could play simultaneously were even more disappointing because the game frame lags a lot with all the blocks bursting into [unnecessary] effects. However, as I found later, you can “edit” any level (or create your own) which allows you to speed up the game while taking turns (by reducing the timer to, for example, 5 seconds a turn) and change the weapons used to switch up the gameplay. This helped fix the earlier disappointment in which I found people got antsy as people really took their time (read: 40 seconds) planning their moves.

Although the 4 player mode was somewhat lackluster, the 2 player mode was really great. Granted, it makes for less of a party game when only two people can participate – but many of the games are simultaneous and makes for exciting gameplay. There is both a cooperative and competitive route for the 2 player mode – both which are exciting in their own way. The cooperative games require, surprise, cooperation – but often, the task is rather challenging and thus, requires the players to really work together or face the “Try Again” screen. The competitive games were simply games in which you and your buddy fought against each other, usually to destroy a building or score the most points. Either way, the two player modes are really worth the multiplayer aspect of the game.

Lastly, the single player mode will really test your skills. There are many tasks that you are expected to complete – often using only a single baseball or while protecting several innocent kittens from a Halloween army (your arm will tire). I found that revisiting a game after a week or two allowed you to overcome the challenge of getting gold on every task – an extra that grants you very powerful weapons. Again, you can edit any level just to play around with different weapons, blocks, decoration, characters, etc.

To cut this short, Boom Blox is really worth the purchase. Younger kids can delight in the “boom” of everything falling off, while older players can aim to score higher points and complete the challenges that may be too hard for the young (there are many). 5 Stars Great fun for all ages
My 5 year old game whiz loves this game. It is deceptively complicated on the higher levels,and takes thought and strategy—which makes it fun for my 38 year old husband. It says a lot when a game serves the entertainment needs of children and adults.

5 Stars Boom Blox is a great puzzle game for the Wii.
I find Boom Blox to be very entertaining for not only one, but also a group of people. It can get very competitive and allows one to take out agression, if needed. Fun game with several different concepts which allows for hours of play.

4 Stars Boom Blox Rox!
Wow. Let me say that again: WOW. This game is a neat little gem that works so well with the idea and execution of the Wii. Its fun to play, easy to learn, and challenging as your skills increase.

The idea is deceptivley simple- throw a variety of objects at towers/buildings/constructs of blocks…knock them down, pull pieces away, create domino effects and all that jazz to score points. By and far the most fun are the levels where you can destroy everything. Other levels let you pull pieces away from the larger structure a la Jenga or similar games.

The best part of this game is figuring out the least amount of “moves” needed to complete each goal. The physics engine is quite good and things react, for the most part, as you would expect them to. The ability to move the field around and change some perspective is helpful and actually necessary to complete levels and goals as you progress through the game.

The learing curve is structured well so that by the time you have finished the training missions, you have all the skills necessary to dive into the full game. I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old. They dont get all the finer points, but they have fun knocking things down and doing some of the simpler levels. I myself, like the challenge that the “story” (explore) mode offers. So the game is great for kids and adults alike. Totally gets my vote for that one!

The editing features are nice, but somewhat limited in my opinion. You start with a blank field in which to build with a whole plethora of choices for blocks, doors, walls, buildings…but the game has a limit on what can be placed on the field before it gets “full.” And it fills up fast. I barely had enough memory space to plunk down two guard towers, some bomb blocks, a mini wall and some gem blocks before I was not allowed to place anything else- but the worst part was all that unused space on the editing field. It felt a little dissapointing to me. With the next generation hardware and memory, one would think they would be able to create bigger and better levels. Minor annoyance, but still one that irks me at times.

The multiplayer mode is good, and while I havent used it extensivley- it works well for two players and the split screen is handled nicely. I havent gone online or anything like that as of yet- and dont plan to, so I cannot review or rate those features of the game.

The storyline is loose and simplistic, just what one would expect from a game of this presentation- and that isnt a bad thing at all. Having a story kind of ties a few things together and makes the goals make a bit more sense, but doesnt take any attention away from the wonderful gameplay. One thing to watch out after you are done playing this game…”Wii elbow”- boy did the soreness strike with a vengance the next day! That being said, I love this game and am glad that we purchased it. I highly suggest you get this one, like another overlooked Wii gem (Zack and Wiki), I dont think this game will stick around for too long before it becomes harder to find. A sure sleeper hit and a definite must have game for the Nintendo Wii.

5 Stars excellent overlooked game
This is an excellent puzzle game for the wii, loads better than the majority of wii ‘party games’ being released for the console. While the visual style is appealing to kids, the game is easily enjoyable by the whole family or a group of adults. The controls are simple and mostly easy to use, through the precision needed for some of the challenges may be a little frusterating.

And, dare I say, the controls are in and of themselves are fun to use. Who wouldn’t want to throw various objects at carefully constructed block towers? Or pull them apart jenga-style? Not only that, but it all feels pretty natural, as well as being perfectly suited to the wii controller for a unique experience.

5 Stars Unexpected fun; high replayability
I didn’t expect much from this game when my 7-year old son chose it over Super Smash Bros. Brawl as one of our first purchases for the Wii, but after 20 minutes of playing, I was totally hooked! A deceptively simple spin on Jenga, Boom Blox is a perfect party game for everyone in the family that is easy to learn but difficult to master, especially the challenging “grab” mode in which the game’s excellent physics engine really stands out.

Whether playing alone, in co-op or attack mode, Boom Blox is the kind of mass-appeal game you can play for hours at a time without getting bored and is a worthy addition to every player’s library.
