2 Stars Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection
Sorry, but I do not find this to be a very good pinball game. I have 4 of Sierra’s pinball games for my PC and I LOVE them. I am a rather avid pinball player, like good graphics, lots of action. I have all those in Sierra’s games. I just thought that a pinball game for the Wii would be very good graphically, and it just isn’t in my opinion. I was dismally disappointed. I played the games thru one night and I haven’t even been interested in it enough to get it out again. Maybe Sierra can make some pinball games for the Wii? This just seemed to be too much like a very cheap PC pinball game.
4 Stars Nearly perfect simulations
I’ve played a *lot* of pinball and have owned a number of games. The games included in this Wii title are pretty good reproductions of their “real” counterparts all of which I have played on many occasions. The one flaw in this game is the occasionally incorrect ball action. That is, balls sometimes behave in an unnaturally excited manner – moving much faster off the slingshots, pop bumpers, and posts than you would ever see on a real game. This, combined with the somewhat sluggish response of the flippers, can result in balls zipping past the flippers or into the outlanes in an unnatural way. As mentioned, the flippers are ever so slightly sluggish – not quite as responsive as those on a real game. This delay between pushing the buttons on the wiimote and nunchuck and the activation of the flippers is probably about 0.05 seconds more than on a real machine. It’s just enough to be noticeable and a bit distracting if you are an experienced pinball player. You can adjust to this pretty quickly, however. Aside from these minor quibbles, the simulation is impressive – complete with very good instructions on all of the games, several viewing modes and angles for each game, and fun playing modes. You can jostle the game with each hand independently using the motion sensors on the Wiimote and nunchuck – very satisfying and natural. The use of the joystick on the nunchuck to pull back the plunger to launch balls with controlled force was a great choice. It’s a great equivalent to the spring action on a real machine. It’s great to see these classic games so faithfully reproduced on the Wii. I recommend the game to anyone who enjoys or is curious about pinball. I’d love to see more releases featuring other great games such as Addams Family, Twilight Zone, Theater of Magic, and so on. After all, they have the physics engine pretty well dialed in already – just need to fix some of the hyper-ball bugs!
5 Stars Almost Like The Real Thing!
I used to own the pinball machine Sorcerer years ago and have always missed it. I bought this hoping it would give me a taste of the “real” machine. After playing it, I’d have to say Williams Pinball Hall Of Fame has exceeded my expectations. It is a lot of fun to play and doesn’t take up the space of a real pinball machine plus you get 10 machines in one. I would definitely recommend this Wii game to anyone.
5 Stars As good as it gets!
Love this game. Awesome gameplay– just like playing the real thing! I totally recommend it if you are a pinball fanatic.
5 Stars Old times relived!
This game is such a joy to play. Reminds me of the old arcades. The one feature I wish they would have added was a backdoor to unlock every table within the game. Other than that, if you like pinball you will love this game.
