Mushroom Men The Spore Wars

Mushroom Men The Spore Wars

Mushroom Men gives players the opportunity to jump into the fantastic microcosm that is the backyard battlefield. Take control of the crusade, creating devastating weapons from everyday items and teaming up with other sentient plant forms that’ll leave the enemy sliced and diced. Let the stylus be your rapier and the Wii Remote your bazooka as you cut down the multitude of household pests that threaten our very existence! Mushroom Men inhabit the world that goes on while we humans are looking the other way, in the twilight hours when we sleep. We tower above them and go about our business completely unaware of the war waged at our feet. After the comet had passed, the scientists concluded that the strange, green dust had no effect on the world. No one noticed that tiny plants and fungi were acting strangely. Mushrooms, cacti, flowers and vines had awakened to full consciousness. Tribes quickly formed, building plant and fungi nations and with nation building… came war! Mushroom Men shows gamers the mundane world from the surreal perspective of a three inch high Mushroom Man. As a brave Bolete Mushroom, players can wreak havoc on their enemies by transforming common household trinkets and trash into weapons and tools.

4 Stars Silly game and a were good way to kill time
Its not your Resident evil kind; none of the ’serious’ killing. But, if you like something thats light but gives you enuff chance to kill the ‘baddies’, then you will like the game.

Its gets a little easier as you go along, there is not much in the shape of puzzle(s) to unlock. So, you probably wont play it the second time around. Its very interesting while you keep playing, though.

You kid will pro’ly like it more (and will definitely enjoy the fun more), than a 30+ year old like me. I still recommend the adults to have a go – for simple fun, if nothing else.

4 Stars If you suspect you might like it, you probably will.
This is one of those games that you can actually judge by the cover. Let me break it down:

1) The cover looks like it came straight out of 90’s concert poster.

2) If you’re a fan of that style, undoubtedly you’re a fan of Primus, whose main man Les Claypool does the soundtrack.

3) Since you enjoy the style, you’re going to have fun exploring the world which is incredibly detailed – brand name puns, current event references, even little things like a note lying on the ground is a real note, complete with a story about how aliens are stealing our oil and selling it back to us at $150 a barrel.

4) Just look at the name. Mushroom Men. You know it’s going to be weird and contain offbeat humor, and you’re right.

The bulk of the joy I get from this game is from the style, but the classic platformer elements and control is quite good, I especially enjoy gliding (seems like you can fly forever!) and using the sticky-hand “grapling hook”. But the style and the funny content keep me exploring each level, and that’s an important element in any platformer.

If playing a mushroom in a game that looks like a concert poster while listening to Les Claypool sounds as cool to you as it does to me, then this game is for you. I was really excited about Mushroom Men but held off on buying because someone told me it was just okay. I’m glad I paid attention to Amazon’s user reviews instead of metacritic when deciding to buy this game – Mushroom Men is exactly what I wanted.

5 Stars fun game so far!
Mushroom Men is arguably one of the most fun puzzle games out right now. The box says its a two player game and it can be but really its one player with a backup helper. This means that the first player does most of the work but second player is like the side kick and can help heal player one faster as well as help fight against enemies when sporekinesis is available. With two people playing, its more fun because you’re helping each other get through the levels and have brain power working! Its not just another mindless game although I suppose at times it can be.

I haven’t completed the game yet and am currently stuck in the house level haha but its worth playing. The graffics could have been a bit clearer but once your eyes adjust to them its not so bad. The music is good for the most part even if it is repetitive. Mushroom Men were given their own language so you do have to read the captions to know what they’re saying to follow along with the story but its an easy read and funny sometimes. Oh yea, the B button will most def. be your friend throughout the game.

5 Stars Reminds me of Abe’s Odyssey
The first thing this game reminds me of was the wonderful (and much missed) Abe’s Odyssey from Oddworld. The characters are fun to play with and the world in which it inhabits adds many different elements to the game.

I’m still working through the level, so the review is not complete, but it’s no doubt that this has the potential to be a very big hit.

Get this game.

4 Stars Pick it up
Hopefully a new franchise is born with Mushroom men

The Graphics , sound and control and the open worlds leads it for major exploration and a touch of old school platform thrown in makes this game a must play ! not real hard but to find all the objectives on each level could take time

Its all up to you another thing that makes this a great game it not punishing you to take your to explore!

Open Season

August 16th, 2008 Nintendo Wii Review No comments

Open Season

In Open Season, you’ll unleash your animal instincts in a riotous romp in the great outdoors. A rowdy brood of forest animals turns the tables on a bunch of unsuspecting hunters, when a domesticated grizzly named Boog gets lured into the wild by a fast-talking mule deer named Elliott. Forced to “rough it” in the great outdoors, Boog goes native, rallying all the forest animals to take back their home and send the hunters packing.

2 Stars Not much of a game
I wasn’t very impressed with this game. It shows that up to four players can participate, but that is only for a few of the short games. Most of the games are boring and the graffics are lacking very much compared to other Wii games.

1 Star Don’t waste your money
This game is absolutely horrible! The graphics suck, the story is corny and the controls don’t work. One of the first things you have to do that requires you to move the Wii Remote is lean out of the truck and grab things, no matter what I did it didn’t pick anything up and would not go in the direction that it was supposed to. If you’re still interested, rent or borrow before you buy. It will disappoint you.

4 Stars REALLY FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This game Is really fun, but the graphics are bad. In the game, u can throw other animals like skunks and rabbits at the hunters. It’s really funny and fun. It’s easy most of the time, but levels like Snow Blitz and Mine Shafted are hard. I’ve beaten both of them. I’m almost done with the game. I thought the Wii versoin would be so much better than the Gcube versoin. It is almost the same! You should buy the Gcube version because the controls and graphics aren,t really different.

I think the age range Ubisoft was shooting for was 6-9, but I’m 11 and I enjoy it.Some parts of the game are dumd though. The mini games are ridiculous! I think this silly game is worth buying!

4 Stars A Good Kid’s Game
This is a good kids game. I think they will have a lot of fun playing it. It’s good for the adults to play with them too. Good game to spend time on with your kids. Graphics are good for a cartoon-ish game on a Wii. The rating is appropriate for ages 10+ (maybe because you can throw humans around). The actual Wii control movement allows you to pick up things, to steer when doing the driving scenes, and to do some throwing. Very simple game to play and to finish. Got this at a good price. Down to $20 now, it’s worth taking a look.
